What Is Involved In Making Your Own Website

Creating your own website is not as hard as you may think, yes there is a bit of work involved in building your own website, especially if you want it to be successful. Ok so I said there was a bit of work involved with creating a website, however it’s actually pretty easy work, depending on how you go about the actual creation of your website, more on that in a bit.

I am going to quickly cover the basics behind everything involved with creating your own website.

Niche Selection

Before you can even start building a website you need to know what type of website you are going to make and the topic/niche you want to make it on. So the first and one of the most important steps to creating a website is deciding what Niche you are going to make your website on.

Choosing the right Niche is important in a bunch of different ways. You need to like what you are doing, don’t choose a Niche (for any reason) if you’re not really interested in it, you don’t want to get bored of your website.

To learn more about Niche’s check out “Choosing The Right Niche For You”.

Domain Name And Website Hosting

Once you know what you want to do you can purchase a Domain Name and a Website Hosting Account. This is a very easy step if you know what domain name you want, all you need to do is fill a few things out and your done. To find out more about Domain Names check out “****Choosing Your Domain Name****” and for Website Hosting check out “Website Hosting Explained”.

So now you are ready to actually create your website, this will be the biggest step so far. There are many different ways to create a website and most don’t require you to know any website coding at all, knowing the basics can help though.

The first and most known way of creating a website is to actually hand code the whole website yourself, which is an option but not needed. The easiest and the way I recommend is to use a CMS, CMS stands for Content Management System and is a web application that manages your entire website for you, all you do is write the content. There are many different types of CMS’s also.

To find out more about the actual creation of websites check out the “Creating” Section.

Next you need to start production content for your website, content is the most important part of your website. After all the content is actually what the website is designed for, and you will get people visiting your website to look at your content. Content is something you will be working on for a very long time, you should always be adding new content and improving your older content.

So you finial finished creating your website and you have populated it with very nice content, where are all the people (no traffic?). Unlike the saying “Build it and they will come” a website is nothing like that, once you have finished building your website you will pretty much get no visitors. This is where you need to start promoting your website.

Think about it, how did you find this website, through a search engine (like Google, Bing, Etc), YouTube, a link off another website, etc. After you have finished creating your website it will be very hard for people to find it, you won’t be in any search engine, you may have some YouTube videos (if you made any), you won’t have any other websites linking to you (because they wouldn’t know about your website).  So now comes the time where you need to promote your website and get those visitors coming, to find out about promoting your website check out the “Promotion” Section.

Once you have a fully functional website with a lot of consistent Traffic you can start to thinking about making money from it.  There are many different ways you can make money from a website and to learn some of those ways check out the “Money” section of this website.

Remember to never get carried away and saturate your website with different money making methods, this will likely reflect badly on how your visitors see your website. You don’t want to come across as your only goal is to make money from your visitors.

More Work

One thing you must always do is create new content and keep working at building more Traffic to your website. You can never have enough content or visitors so keep working at it, think of it this way, the more visitors and content you have the more money you can make.
