Managing Your Comments In WordPress

When your Blog starts getting popular you will be faced with a lot of spam comments on your Posts, this is normal. Luckily there is a Plugin called “Akismet” which is usually installed with all WordPress installations so go to “Plugins->Installed” (from the left menu) and Activate “Akismet”. Akismet will automatically block all known spam comments and give you the option to review them.

To Activate Akismet you will need a “WordPress.com API key”, there are more details on this in the Akismet Plugin, so go Activate it if you haven’t. A nice stat I just saw on the Akismet website is “83% of all comments are spam”.

Step By Step Guide;

Step 1) Login to WordPress.

Step 2) From the menu on the left select “Comments”.

Step 3) Here you can browse all the comments on your Blog (and mange them). With Akismet installed all spam will be automatically moved to the Spam folder and you will also have the option to “Check for Spam”. Click the image below for a full picture of “Editing Comments”.

Step 4) Done.
