How To Login To Joomla 2.5 Video Tutorial

The video above was made for Joomla 1.5, however Joomla 2.5 has the exact same login process.

Requirements

This is a simple tutorial but there are 3 things that you will require to be able to login to Joomla 2.5;

  • A Website of your own (Learn how to get your own website)
  • Joomla 2.5 installed to your website (Learn how to install Joomla 2.5)
  • Your administration username and password for Joomla 2.5 (You would have typed in the administrator username you wanted and been given a password during the installation of Joomla 2.5, these details would have also been emailed to the email address you entered during installation).

Step By Step Guide

Step 1) The first thing you will need to do is have your Joomla 2.5 administrator username and password handy. If you followed my tutorial on How to install Joomla 2.5 then you would have these details in your email account if you didn’t remember them or write them down. Below is the email I received after installing Joomla 2.5 to my website, you’re email should look the same if you followed my tutorial, I used my gmail account so your email may apear slight different.

If your password is too complicated to remember and you want to change it to your own custom password, this tutorial can help, How To Change Your Joomla Password.

Step 2) Once you have the login detials you need you are ready to login to the admin side of your Joomla 2.5 website. Now all you need to do is go to “yoursite.com/administrator”, remember it is your actual domain name, not yoursite.com, or the location where you installed Joomla too.

Step 3) Now you should be on the administrator login page for your Joomla 2.5 website. Simply enter your login details.

Step 4) You are now logged into the backend/administrator side of Joomla where you can control your entire website. Adding new pages to your website, changing the entire look of your Joomla 2.5 website, adding extensions, etc can all be done from the backend of Joomla.

Additional Information

Most the time if you installed Joomla using Quickinstall as I showed in my previous tutorial, you would have been given a very stong password. The only problem with being given a automatically generated strong password is trying to remember that password. Personally I like to change my passwords to something I can more easily remember, however try to still keep it strong. I suggest you have a look at How To Change Your Joomla 2.5 Password.

If you are happy with your current password you can move onto another tutorial like Changing Your Joomla 2.5 Template.
