More Of An Introduction To Joomla 1.5

What is Joomla

Joomla is (in my opinion) the best CMS, you don't need to know any coding at all to install or use it. You can make your website look very nice just by telling Joomla to use a template you like. Once Joomla is installed on your website you can login to the administration section and create sections and categories, add new pages (articles), create menus, add extensions, change the template of your whole site, etc, all in a few clicks with a graphical user interface.

What can Joomla be used for

Joomla is capable of running many different sites. You can create a large content website with hundreds of pages or even a single page site if you really wanted to, but there are easy ways to make a single page. Joomla can be used to create a subscription website (with a little extra work), where people have to pay for a username and password to gain access to your pages. You could create an online shopping site, you can even use Joomla to create a large community website. Now I haven't really touched on the capability of the type of sites Joomla can make but that should give you a good idea.

Joomla Extensions

One of the best things about Joomla is its extensions directory which can add all different types of features and functions to Joomla. Some extensions even add a Forum to Joomla, now that's a big extension and it's free. You can get extensions that improve the SEO aspects of Joomla, allow easy addition of videos, automatically adds Google Adsense throughout your website, etc. Basically if you need your website to do something there will be an extension that can help you. You can check out Joomla Extensions Here.

Getting help with Joomla

If you have any type of trouble at all with Joomla don't worry there is an incredible amount of help available. The Joomla forums will be able to help you with any problem you may have, you are best to search the forums to see if there is already a solution to your problem. If you can't find any solution then just post a thread with your question and you should get help pretty quickly. The reason there is so much help is because there are over 200,000 community users. If you are still in need of help you can always create a new thread in the forums, which I check regularly.
