So you have decided that you are going to make a Content Website, let’s skip the small talk and get straight down to business. Since you have chosen to make a Content Website you now need to decide which creation path you want to take. My main goal is to teach you how to make a website without having to know any coding what so ever. However I still believe that it is good to have options that’s why I don't simply shove one creation method at you. The rest of this page will be used to show you the different ways you can create your content website and hopefully help you decide on one.
Joomla is open source, which means it is 100% free to use, no charges at all.
I want to talk about Joomla first as it is my personal favourite way to create content websites and for a quick example this website was actually made using Joomla 1.5. Joomla is a Content Management System, which basically means that it “Manages” your entire website for you, all you do is tell it what to do. So once you have signed up for your website hosting (I recommend Hostgator) you can install Joomla onto your website and then you have a special admin section which you login to.
From the admin side of Joomla you have full control over your website, you can change many different site settings, you can change the entire look and feel of your website simply by clicking a few buttons. Joomla is pretty easy to use for the power it give you to make some incredible websites and everything is controlled by a point and click approach.
You can learn more about Joomla and find many helpful tutorials at “Your Guide To Joomla 1.5”, I will make a new section for Joomla 1.6 once it is released.
Currently latest version of Joomla is “Joomla 1.5” but they are very close to finishing “Joomla 1.6” however everything I have said above applies to both 1.5 and 1.6. Joomla 1.6 is only an upgraded version of Joomla 1.6 and has improvements in certain sections.
SBI is an extremely popular choice for new comers to creating a website, I will say up front that when it comes to making your website it is much easier to make a stunning website using Joomla then SBI but SBI is much more than a website building tool.
The main focus of SBI is more about helping you build a profitable online business (website) then building a pretty website. SBI is basically a full online business building course, they have a lot of helpful information and help guide you along every step of creating your website.
SBI is a subscription program that you need to sign up for but comes with a decent amount of value. SBI is $300 a year or $30 a month but that includes your website hosting account, you get a free domain name and you get access to a great deal of information and tools to help you succeed.
To learn more about SBI check out “An Honest SBI (Site Build It) Introduction”.

XSitePro is an application that is often referred to as a Website Builder. Basically once you have purchased XSitePro you download it to your computer, install it and then you can freely build your website from your computer and upload it to your website hosting account when you are ready.
With XSitePro you select a theme from a list of different styles and then you build your website one page at a time. When you make a new page you pretty much only add the content of the page and XSitePro will add the styling and navigation that you have set up. There are also some pretty useful features in XSitePro, for example it can scan your pages and give you SEO tips and also gives you a rating for each page.
XSitePro is actually pretty useful but I wouldn’t always recommend it to an absolute beginner who doesn’t exactly have the best computer skills. Once you have purchased XSitePro you can make as many websites as you want with it, all you need to do is buy the domain names and website hosting. Plus once you learn how to use it, making a new website can be really fast and easy. Another great benefit of XSitePro is that you can make a bunch of websites and manage them all from one program.
There will be a full section on XSitePro2 Soon and I will link to it once it is done, in the mean time you can check out the XSitePro2 website at “XSitePro2”.
